Stonebridge Feed Supplements - 10/6/10

STONEBRIDGE FEED SUPPLEMENTS

In accordance with their research commitment, Stonebridge have produced four Feed Supplements that address specific ongoing problems associated with equine performance and health.  Each of the supplements has been scientifically researched and clinical trials have been carried out over a 3-year period.  Stonebridge confidently releases these products onto the market.

MUSCLE PLUS

Muscle Plus is a specifically designed feed supplement for horses, aimed at reducing the effects of training and competition stress in the horse’s muscles.  It delivers this by:

Ÿ  Using HMB (Beta hydroxy Beta Methyl Butyrate), an important ingredient that reduces the excessive breakdown of muscle tissue during exercise.

Ÿ  Using MSMA (Methylsulfonylmethane) as an anti-inflammatory.

Ÿ  Using Creatine as an additional muscle fuel.

Ÿ  Using Vitamin E and Selenium to aid in the development of muscular strength and as a powerful ant-oxidant.

Ÿ  Using L-Glutamine to protect the gut lining and to aid absorption of nutrients.

Muscle Plus will allow a horse to train and perform with less damage and stress to their system.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS - HMB: MSM: Creatine: Vitamin E: Selenium: L. Glutamine.

FEEDING GUIDELINES:  50 gms per day while the horse is in training.

BIOSPECTRUM

Biospectrum is a feed supplement for horses specifically designed to balance the intestinal microbial health of the horse.  Microbial imbalance can occur in horses due to a number of reasons, the main ones being:

Ÿ  Diet changes

Ÿ  Use of antibiotics

Ÿ  Physical stress

Ÿ  Psychological stress

Ÿ  Laminitis and other physiological disorders

Ÿ  Toxins in the horses feed and forage

Ÿ  Toxins in the horses environment, e.g, stable and bedding

Microbial imbalances, if not addressed quickly, can often lead to:

Ÿ  Colic

Ÿ  Poor nutritional absorption

Ÿ  Diarrhoea

Ÿ  Laminitis

Ÿ  Ulceration of the gut and colon

Ÿ  Exercise stress

Ÿ  Poor performance

Biospectrum is particularly beneficial for foals.  Most foals at nine days will show signs of diarrhoea, due to the changes in microbial imbalance in the gut, and not, as many people believe, due to the mare coming into season.  Even orphan foals will exhibit signs of diarrhoea (scour).  Biospectrum will help to address this situation and keep the gut healthy.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS - Lactobacillus Strain: L-Glutamine: Pro-Feed: Bio-mos :Biosaf

FEEDING GUIDELINES - 20 gms per day for foals and older horses.

Biospectrum is available in a syringe and in powder form for long-term use.

RELEASE

RELEASE is a feed supplement for horses, specifically designed to help in the management of horses that experience the problem of ‘tying up’, (exertional rhabdomyolyses).  Horses that suffer from this condition develop stiffness and pain in the muscles of the lower back, gluteals and thigh.  In severe cases, muscle tissue breakdown occurs and the horse’s urine turns dark, (myoglobinurea).

Research has indicated that there can be several different causes for ’tying up’, some of which are as follows:

Ÿ  Altered carbohydrate metabolism

Ÿ  Electrolyte imbalance

Ÿ  Lactic Acid build up

Ÿ  Vitamin E /Selenium deficiencies

Ÿ  Hormonal imbalance

Ÿ  Genetic Predisposition

RELEASE contains a fine balance of vitamins and minerals along with BioPlex, Acid Buff, DMG and MSM in order to counteract any deficiencies in the horse’s system that may be contributing to the problem of ‘tying up’.

Active Ingredients:

Acid Buff : Vit E: Vit C: MSM: Bioplex: DMG: Mineral Complex

Feeding Guidelines:  60gms per day added to feed.

PULMON PLUS

Pulmon Plus is a feed supplement for horses, specifically designed to aid in the management of horses that have experienced E.I.P.H. (exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage,  or ‘Bleeding’. It does this by strengthening the blood vessels in the lungs and airways.

The exact cause of ‘Bleeding’ particularly in racehorses has not been discovered.  Also it is still unknown why some horses ‘bleed’ after exercise and others do not.  However, what is clear is that ‘bleeding’ is directly associated with a rise in the horse’s blood pressure during exercise.  Therefore by strengthening the blood vessels in the lungs and nasal pathways, the horse has a greater chance of coping with the increase in blood pressure, and not bleeding.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS - Vit A: Vit D: Vit C: Vit E: L-Glutamine: Calcium Carbonate.

FEEDING GUIDELINES - Feed 50 gms per day per 500kg bodyweight.  Increase or reduce in accordance with bodyweight.

Feed for 6 weeks before horse does any serious exercise.

Five days before a race or strenuous piece of work increase dosage to 100gms per day.
